Most guides to Australia will recommend visiting sites like The Great Barrier Reef, Uluru, and Kangaroo Island. Of course, these are magnificent sites to see, but there is much more to Australia for you to experience. So, whether you are on a visit or a long-time resident, you should take the time to travel to these great places and check out the three areas below. You’ll be glad you did! 

Gold Coast – Queensland

There is so much to do and see along the surfing capital, which is Australia’s Gold Coast. You will find expansive sandy beaches perfect for sunbathing and much loved by surfers for the excellent waves. The Gold Coast is home to the world-famous Surfers Paradise resort, where the best and brightest Australian and international surf scene is known to gather for practice and competition. 

The good news is that even if you have never been on a surfboard in your whole life, you’ll find plenty of people offering lessons, even for the most basic beginners. Just be sure to avoid the more challenging areas of the ocean, like Kirra Surf, before you are ready to take them on! 

Once you are done with watery pursuits, you’ll find plenty of other entertainment and attractions on the Gold Coast to keep you happy and occupied. In particular, the culinary scene along the Gold Coast is most impressive as you will find a wide range of cuisines such as Italian, Japanese, and America.

You’ll even find rare gems like the award-winning Persian restaurant Shiraz along the Gold Coast. A place where you can enjoy live entertainment on a Friday and Saturday night or treat yourself to a delicious meal at lunchtime for as little as 25$.

Melbourne – Victoria

Approximately 1000 miles from the Gold Coast in Melbourne, Victoria’s capital. There are so many reasons Melbourne is worth a visit, and the sheer volume of cultural activities, such as museums, art galleries, and concert venues, is among the most compelling. 

Indeed, whether you are looking to appreciate some modern art at the Heide Museum of Modern Art, check out the history of the area and how it’s related to emerald mining at Emerald Museum & Nobelius Heritage Park, or learn more about how the history of Australia is bound up with aircraft at Moorabbin Air Museum, Melbourne and the surrounding area is the ideal location. 

Then once you have spent your days feeding your eyes and mind with all that culture, there is plenty of great nightlife to experience, including a wealth of fantastic restaurants, bars, and clubs to sample when the sun goes down. 

The Outback

The Outback, a vast expanse of desert and wilderness in the heart of Australia, offers unique and diverse experiences for travellers. From wildlife spotting and hiking through national parks to learning about indigenous culture and visiting remote towns steeped in history, there is something for everyone in the Outback.

Adventure seekers can go four-wheel driving on rugged terrain or take a scenic flight over Uluru (Ayers Rock). Outdoor enthusiasts can immerse themselves in nature by camping under the stars or exploring vast gorges and waterholes.

But, no matter your interests, visiting The Outback will leave lasting memories and a deep appreciation for Australia’s rugged beauty.
