What is Corowa Famous For?

Corowa is significant in Australian history as the site of the 1893 Corowa Conference, pivotal in the movement toward the Australian Federation. The conference brought together delegates who would later advocate for the unification of Australia’s separate colonies into one nation. Corowa’s role in this process earned it the title “Birthplace of Federation.”

During the gold rush, the town was established in the 1850s as a crossing point on the Murray River. Over the years, it developed into a critical agricultural hub, mainly known for culture and winemaking. Today, Corowa remains a picturesque town with well-preserved historical buildings and a solid connection to its Federation heritage.
