Prepare Your Support Team.
Assign employees specific responsibilities and let those employees know what is expected of them. Create a file for your team members that contains the following:
- Important contacts and their telephone numbers.
- Essential procedures and information.
- Instructions include how to turn on computers/ what to do if the internet goes down/ who to call If the roof leaks.
- Details on when to contact you and what comprises an emergency.
- Do a trial run – take a day off in advance and let your team get on with it.
Plan Your Break Around Slow Periods
If your business ebbs and flows, take your vacation at slow periods. Never take a vacation during a critical phase of your business, such as a product launch or website revamp.
