If you’re looking for a reason to finally make it to Deauville, this might be it. Hotel Barrière Le Normandy — one of the Côte Fleurie’s most iconic grand hotels — has just unveiled a brand-new Guerlain Spa, and from the look of it, it’s exactly the kind of place you go to slow down properly.
The redesign was carried out by BLINK Design Group, the luxury hospitality studio behind some of the world’s most beautiful hotel interiors. This is their first European project from their newly opened London studio, and they’ve done it in serious style.

What to Expect from the Spa
The design concept, which BLINK describes as a “sojourn in nature,” takes its cues directly from Deauville itself — that particular blend of coastal calm and understated French elegance that Marcel Proust was apparently rather fond of.
Materials do a lot of the heavy lifting here. French limestone runs throughout the floors, travertine lines the wet room walls, and the hammam is finished in veined Calacatta Oro marble — a nod, whether intentional or not, to Guerlain’s gilded heritage. The sauna is wrapped in cedar. There’s a mosaic stone experiential shower. Antique bronze faucets sit alongside black metal detailing.
It’s restrained without being cold, and luxurious without being loud — which is exactly what you’d hope for from a Guerlain Spa.
The wider wellness area — including the hotel pool — has also been renovated as part of the same project, so the whole experience feels cohesive rather than bolted together.

Why Deauville?
Deauville punches above its weight as a destination. It’s only about two hours from Paris, sits right on the Normandy coast, and has this wonderfully old-fashioned sense of grandeur — horse racing, beach cabins with your name on, the famous boardwalk. A weekend here with a spa afternoon built in is the kind of trip that doesn’t need much more added to it.
